When most people think of farmers they think of us taking care of animals all the time that would be correct.
But there was a whole lot of machine maintenance that also goes on the farm.
Here at grassroots found we have a backhoe, John Deere tractor for haying, the dump truck for hauling produce for the hogs, and a club cadet UTV (Utility terrain vehicle) which you see me working on here in this photo.
The Club Cadet UTV gets probably more usage than any other vehicle on the farm. We use it for hauling hay and water for all of the animals and fencing, tools and supplies as in this photo.
It’s an indispensable vehicle.
And after the all work is done Kristin made homemade turkey soup Yum

Hurricane Sandy Preparation on the farm
This is a quick video we shot while we were getting ready for the hurricane.
Our big concern was that if we got high winds it could have done some damage to the 200 or so turkeys we had been raising scince May, so we put them in coops and surrounded them with silage bales to protect them from the wind.
We were lucky that the hurricane mostly missed us and we are also lucky that we all enjoy working together as a family.
